POSITIVE+ faced a unique challenge. A major wallpaper supplier required samples with zigzag edges, a technique used to enhance aesthetics and reduce fraying with repeated handling. Using their Zünd G3 Digital Cutter, POSITIVE+ attempted the task but found the traditional single-blade zigzag cutting method time-consuming, especially when dealing with large volumes.
Seeking innovation, POSITIVE + approached the applications team at Zünd UK to explore alternative processing techniques. After careful evaluation, a custom solution emerged: the development of a bespoke tool using a saw/scallop-toothed edge blade to create zigzag cuts. Positive trials with the tool validated its efficiency and the Pinking Tool was created. Tony Dennington, Chief Commercial and Sustainability Officer at POSITIVE+, said, ‘It is early days, however, we have already showcased the Pinking Tool to our major wallpaper supplier.
