Wasatch Announces Single Solution For Direct To Garment And Direct To Film

Wasatch has adapted Epson DTG printers for direct-to-film (DTF) printing. Wasatch SoftRIP transforms the Epson F3000, F2100, and F2000 into dual-purpose solutions, supporting both direct-to-garment (DTG) and DTF transfers, using Epson’s standard OEM ink. By working with Epson’s ink and avoiding all ‘hacking’ of the printer, this avoids the reliability problems of other DTF solutions.

The new DTF process is suitable for T-shirts, hats, masks, bags, umbrellas, and solid surfaces, both flat and curved. It is adaptable to curved 3D surfaces in a way not possible with direct-to-garment inkjet printers.

When printing with white ink, Wasatch SoftRIP can print the white on top, for the correct DTF transfer. White and coloured inks are printed together in the same pass, for efficient production. As in other DTF processes, adhesive powder is applied to the wet ink after printing. After the powder is applied, it is melted and the ink dried, prior to final transfer in a heat press – similar to dye sublimation.

Support for the Epson F2000 and F2100, for both DTG and DTF printing, is included in the basic Wasatch subscription. Support for the F3000 is also available.
