The Trotec SP3000 large format laser cutter was honoured with the German Design Award 2017 for the Special Mention category, encompassing customer value and user-friendliness. The SP3000 has already received the iF design award and European Digital Press Association nomination, making the German Design Award the third great honour for the large format laser cutter.
‘We are privileged to receive the German Design Award,’ explained Andreas Penz, managing director of Trotec Laser. ‘Sustainable product design is one of our key factors when developing a new product. It contributes significantly to customer value, and increases profitability for our customers.’
Customers worldwide are using the SP3000 in areas such as the sign and display industry, or for acrylic or textile processing. It represents the biggest of a series of large format industrial laser cutters for processing acrylics, wood or textiles. Due to the distinct and open design of the V-shaped body, the working area of 2.2m by 3.2m is easy to access from all four sides and allows economical loading and unloading even during processing.
The German Design Award is the top international prize of the German Design Council. Its goal is to discover, present and honour unique design trends. Launched in 2012, the German Design Award is one of the most well respected design competitions in the world and is held in high regard well beyond professional circles. The Special Mention distinction is awarded to works whose design features particularly successful sub aspects or solutions – an award that honours the commitment of companies and designers.
