The Media Shack recently began producing face masks with its new HP Stitch S500, as well as social distance markers with the HP Latex 570, with both machines supplied by Midcomp.
Part of the Media Shack’s services include solutions for corporate gifts, promotional items, clothing and branding. The company has a history spanning some ten years. ‘We are so excited to be able to offer our services in this very uncertain time with the manufacturing of fabric face masks. With the new Stitch that we installed towards the end of 2019, we are able to offer extremely affordable products to the market, which we will be customising through our online tool offered to the public,’ said The Media Shack’s Managing Director Darryn Potgieter.
‘Not only that, but with the print speed and the fact that we are able to offer water-based inks – which are safe for use on these masks – we are now manufacturing large scale to corporates for their staff. This Stitch really has rescued our business during this period of lockdown, allowing us to still create an income through the manufacture of our masks and also create work for people that would otherwise not have had anything. We are very grateful that we made this purchase last year.’
The HP Stitch S500 enables predictable dye sublimation colour and less media waste for production environments. With symmetrical 2 x CMYK printhead configuration and Optical Media Advance Sensor, this printer allows for saturated and reliable one pass mode for true top speed.
The HP Latex 570 allows the user to load rolls in one minute or less with the spindle-less pivot table and skew automatic adjustment. It runs unattended and produces highly saturated prints with up to 50% more ink density using vivid print modes.
