Both the large format Nyala 2 printer in the 4×4 version and Rob, the loading/unloading robot, have won an EDP Award each.
Twenty leading European trade magazines honour the best technological developments in the printing industry every year. Candidates include products such as software, digital printing devices, postpress solutions and consumables. Quality, user friendliness and low production costs for the users are among the evaluation criteria.
Rob, the swissQprint loading and unloading robot, won in the Best Solutions In Robotics category. The jury remarked, ‘Robots are not really new in the graphic arts industry. But the swissQprint Rob brings this technology for the first time close to large format printers and automates the process. Moreover, it is an integrated process: the printer output software also controls the robot.’
Nyala 2 in the 4×4 version received the Best Flatbed/Hybrid Printers (up to 250 sqm per hour) award. The jury pointed out, ‘The print samples in big size show a dramatic increase of quality in production mode. Thanks to higher density, it also extends the colour gamut.’
