The Sign Africa Zambia Expo, held from June 8-9 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, saw a number of business opportunities created in a short space of time. One of these included the sale of a Mimaki SWJ 320 S4 from Graphix Supply World to Kena Kalwendi, creative director of Designworx Studios.
Designworx Studios Limited is a Zambian indigenous company that supplies a wide range of print media and display products. Designworx started out on a scale of Xerox express paper print. They are best known for their creative design concepts, express printing and corporate branding.
According to Graphix Supply World’s Darryl Braithwaite, Kalwendi purchased his first Mimaki at the beginning of the year, the Mimaki CJV300-160 – a 1,6m wide print and cut in one, and the epitome of print and cut in one machines. Kalwendi’s motivation behind the purchase of the Mimaki SWJ was seeing more opportunities in wide format printing, as well as the reliability and performance of the Mimaki CJV300.
With the versatility offered by the Mimaki SWJ, as well as very low running costs and ease of use offered, Kalwendi is also looking to expand into other areas of the market, and the Mimaki SWJ-320S4 caters perfectly for this. This will be the third Mimaki SWJ-320S4 going into Zambia, with three more pending orders, illustrating the tremendous growth available in the digital printing industry there.
‘As our clientele grew, we realised the need to also venture into large format print. It is for this reason that we purchased SWJ 320 S4,’ said Kalwendi. ‘Advertising has become the norm of the day, and the SWJ 320 S4 will broaden our target markets, because large format is not only restricted to billboards but banners, trampolines, canvas and much more. We surveyed the market in the search for the best recommended large format machinery supplier and Graphix Supply World met our requirements.’
