• Simulated process printing: making a full colour image using half tones and opaque inks as opposed to four colour process (using transparent inks with CMYK).
• Software choice is a determining factor.
• Separation Studio can break an image down to six colours or less.
• The software uses half tone dots as opposed to a vector programme that deals with big solids.
• Get base-white underlay correct.
• Once the first colour is on, flash it, then the other colours follow next, wet on wet. Scarlet next, then yellow, followed by turquoise, and grey.
• Colour order is dictated by software.
• Make sure image has a three dimensional look to it, emphasising the black shadow.
• This software can be used for a variety of other purposes.
