Printbase Textiles (PBT) has placed the South African textile industry on the world map, proving that South Africa is capable of achieving product excellence. The collaboration between Printbase Textiles and its American distributor, Beaver Paper, has led to a win that Printbase Textiles is proud to claim as its own. Beaver Paper won the 2022 Pinnacle Award for its digital dye sublimation printable textile wallcovering, manufactured by Printbase Textiles, at the Printing United Expo in the ‘Media – Textile – Traditional Wall Covering’ category.
The Pinnacle Award is the textile industry’s equivalent to winning an Oscar or a Grammy, and draws nominations from textile companies located across the globe. This year, there were 162 competing nominated textiles, which were assessed by a prestigious panel of textile technologists.
The visual appearance of PBT’s textile wallcovering is outstanding and the colours are bright. Many large format printing companies in South Africa have added this product to their offering, obtaining great results.
The demand for textile wall coverings is expanding at a phenomenal rate internationally. Textile wallcoverings is the fasted growing sector in the coated textile market and PBT is positioned to become a significant supplier.
For a number of years, the alternative to wallpapers has been vinyl wallcoverings. Conventional wallpaper scratches and tears while scribbles are almost impossible to remove. A more durable option was to opt for vinyl wall coverings.
However the ‘C’ in PVC stands for Chlorine, which is considered to be highly environmentally unfriendly. This accounts for the move to textile equivalents.
Printbase Textiles is one of South Africa’s foremost manufacturers of a wide range of coated printable textiles. The product was showcased at the Printing United Exhibition in Las Vegas.
