Portamex Enterprises is showcasing a range of papers developed and produced by Felix Schoeller Foto-und Spezial Papiere mills in Germany, which has specialised in photographic papers for the last 115 years, as well as the Lay Flat Blockout banner at the Sign Africa Expo, taking place from 22-24 August at the Sandton Convention Centre.
E-Photo papers
These papers are designed for HP Indigo presses. These innovative and high-end digital printing papers have been developed to produce photo realistic digital prints on electrophotographic systems. They give each individual print the look and feel of a genuine photograph. Main applications include the production of professional photo books and portraits. Because of its exceptional photo quality can also be used for portraits, calendars and poster prints. E-Photo papers are water and dirt repellent so they can also be used for cooking books, menus and children books.
The paper has a polyethylene (PE) coating, which creates completely new features for digital printing media. It guarantees the look and feel of traditional photographic paper. The base paper is sealed with the PE barrier coating, giving excellent resistance to liquids, dirt and finger prints. It creates Lustre’s low-reflection surface structure and gives outstanding folding and creasing properties. Production times for glued products are reduced as a result of significantly shorter drying times, since adhesives do not penetrate deep into the base paper as it does with traditional papers.
The specially developed E-PHOTO Primer produces excellent toner adhesion, brilliant colour reproduction and outstanding printing blanket compatibility. E-Photo papers are produced in Lustre, Gloss and Matt finishes.

E-Feel
These premium uncoated papers have unique surfaces – pyramid and canvas, and are for dry toner systems. E-Feel papers are printable on both sides and provide an excellent paper formation, high dimensional stability and a unique and sensational look and feel. The papers have been developed for dry toner printers such as Kodak, Xerox, Canon, Konica Minolta, Ricoh and Nashua. They are available in sheet sizes of A4, A3, SRA3 and 488 x 322mm. Applications include: photo, posters, brochures, book covers, greeting cards and business cards.
E-Pure
These are premium class uncoated photo papers with high cleanliness for dry toner systems. They feature a high dimensional stability, an outstanding paper smoothness, high purity and an excellent paper formation. They are printable on both sides and have been specifically developed for dry toner systems such as Kodak, Xerox, Canon, Konica Minolta, Ricoh and Nashua. Applications include: brochures, book covers, greeting cards and business cards.
Jet-Speed
These high performance premium class inkjet papers are available in silk, gloss and chromagloss finishes. They feature a high quality coating for fast drying, sharp lines, a wide colour gamut and high image durability. The papers are printable on both sides and have been developed for high speed inkjet printing systems such as Océ, Fuji, etc. Applications include graphics, premium brochures and personalised mailings.
Lay Flat Blockout banner
The product has been developed for solvent, eco-solvent, UV curable, latex and screen printing systems. It is characterised by its excellent flexibility, smoothness, extended light fastness and its lay flatness. It has a semi-matte surface to eliminate reflection. A high resolution coating provides very sharp prints with beautiful vibrant colours. Applications include roll up banners and graphics.
