After careful consideration and many months of strategic planning, Perspex SA (Pty) Ltd has branded itself to Apex Polymer Solutions (Pty) Ltd. This name change seeks to reflect the company’s commitment to pioneering innovation, quality, sustainability and its vision for the future. This is a sponsored article.
At Apex Polymer Solutions, the company has always prided itself on being at the forefront of the polymer industry. Its strengths lie in its world-class local production facility in Gqeberha, which enables it to deliver exceptional products and services to its customers. With cutting-edge technology and a team of dedicated experts, the company has consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible in the polymer industry.
One such example is partnering with an international supplier to manufacture an extruded polyurethane. Apex Polymer Solutions is one of only three extruders in the world that have managed to get this right. Apex Polymer Solutions holds a licence to manufacture and sell Linashield® globally and already has some significant customers in Europe. The company is actively developing a larger customer base in the Southern Hemisphere with Australia and South America being very attractive markets for it as well as North of its own borders into Africa, given that Linashield® finds its home in many mining applications.
The company is investing heavily in its manufacturing facility and has just landed its sixth extrusion line, allowing it to produce Twinwall Polyprop, which it will brand X-Core. The line is due to be commissioned in early November 2023. Through the expansion of its extrusion facility, the company will aid job creation at a critical time. Apex Polymer Solutions will soon be in an excellent position to meet customer demand quickly and provide a sustainable solution with an advantage over its competitors, based on superior quality and exceptional service. In addition to the new line, Apex Polymer Solutions has also invested in a state-of-the-art, hydraulic large format guillotine, so it can offer a ‘perfectly square cut’ sheet solution to all its large format screen and digital print customers.
Its world-class ISO-certified production facility has increasingly become the backbone of its success. By manufacturing locally, the company can ensure the highest quality standards, faster turnaround times, and reduced environmental impact. Apex Polymer Solutions adapted and overcame South African challenges by investing in two generators to keep it going through load-shedding. This facility allows it to collaborate closely with its customers, understand their specific needs, and deliver customised solutions that meet and exceed their expectations.
The company’s collaboration with Tetra Pak, a multi-national company, proved to be a huge success in terms of offering a sustainable solution to its challenge of recycling Tetra Pak long-life cartons. The LLDPE and aluminium parts of the carton ended up in a landfill. After two years of research and development and further collaboration with recyclers, Apex Polymer Solutions was able to take the pelletised PolyAl and extrude it into reusable sheets. These sheets have been used by some of its big retailers for point-of-sale displays and it is constantly investigating further opportunities and applications for this world-class, cradle-to-cradle solution.
The decision to rebrand was driven by the company’s desire to better align its identity with its core values and strengths. While Perspex SA has served the company well over the years, it believes that Apex Polymer Solutions better represents who it is and what it stands for. ‘Apex’ signifies the peak of its industry, for which it constantly strives, symbolising its commitment to being the best in everything it does and the need to supply only the best quality.
‘Polymer Solutions’ emphasises its expertise in providing innovative and tailored solutions to its customers’ unique challenges. In terms of its total product offering to the markets that it services, its partnership with SloanLED remains an integral part of its business. SloanLED is a pioneer in applied light technology solutions with a vision of enlightening the world. It is their mission to deliver innovative application-based light solutions to the signage, retail, sporting, hospitality, petroleum, and commercial markets. Through this partnership, Apex Polymer Solutions is able to anticipate its customers’ needs and can design, test, and deliver comprehensive solutions that factor in the total cost of ownership requirements, maximise return on investment, and provide a positive experience with meaningful warranties. Its partnership with SloanLED also gives the company the opportunity to offer its clients free access to the LedWizard LED layout software, empowering it to develop and produce quality signage for the end user.
Apex Polymer Solutions will continue to represent 3A Composites and sell their licenced PERSPEX® Cast Acrylic brand but will also introduce some unexpected Apex Polymer Solutions branded products that will be fit-for-purpose and that will offer the performance and quality that its customers deserve.
With the rebranding, Apex Polymer Solutions aims to strengthen its position as a trusted partner in the industry. The company will continue to invest in research and development, leveraging the latest advancements in technology to drive innovation. Its team of experts will remain dedicated to providing exceptional customer service, working closely with the customer to develop solutions that propel their business forward.
The company’s new war cry is ‘Make Quality Everything’. It represents its commitment to continuous improvement and its determination to deliver even greater value to its customers because it believes that every brand deserves Apex quality solutions.
Apex Polymer Solutions is excited about this new chapter in its company’s history and looks forward to sharing this journey with its customers, thanking them for their continued support, and will strive, every day, to exceed their expectations.
