Dr Nicholas Hellmuth, President and Founder of FLAAR (a world leader and independent information source on digital imaging) has declared the Mimaki JV400-160SUV the ‘Most Innovative Printer’ At FESPA 2012.

Dr Hellmuth is regarded as an expert in the industry, who dedicates his time to preparing evaluations of wide-format printers, inks, substrates, RIP software, flatbed cutters and more. The purpose of FLAAR is to assist printshop owners and managers to learn about the pros and cons of wide-format inkjet printers, especially UV-curable flatbeds, but also eco, mild-, lite-, and bio-solvent printers, as well as water-based inks for textiles.

Many people were curious to learn about Dr Hellmuth’s point of view on the new releases from Mimaki and others at FESPA. In his FESPA report, he states:

‘All of the PR, all the press coverage, and all the hoopla at FESPA was about the ‘latex ink’ printers from Mimaki. But frankly what most impressed me was Mimaki’s solvent-UV printer.’

The revolutionary JV400-130/160SUV uses new ink technology that combines the flexibility of solvent ink with the durability of UV cured ink. The printer can deliver a smooth, glossy print result, which is incredibly durable, vibrant and flexible. The Mimaki JV400-130/160SUV is ideal for banners, pull-ups and displays – or any application where a combination of vibrant colour and a long lasting, scratch resistant print is important.

‘The solvent UV ink chemistry was definitely the most ‘WOW’ product at FESPA 2012. If you hold the product in your hand, and look at it, the ink looks unprecedentedly bright and it looks as if inherently laminated. The folks in the Mimaki booth were hospitable and clearly Mimaki is riding a crest of popularity for its innovations. No other Japanese printer manufacturer has produced anything innovative yet in 2012,’ concluded Dr Hellmuth.

This is good news for Mimaki, which is looking forward to drupa to showcase the JV400SUV, Latex and other ground-breaking new innovations at the biggest show in the print and signage industry.

Mimaki also showcased five new revolutionary printers at the FESPA, proving its commitment in bringing innovative and productive products to the market.

The company stole the show with their new technology and the interest on the Mimaki stand was massive. Among the new releases, the company launched:
The world’s first printer with latex ink: JV400-130/160LX
The world’s first solvent UV ink printer: JV400-130/160SUV
The world’s fastest dye-sublimation printer printing at 150sqm/hr: TS500-1800

Mimaki recently received similar positive feedback at Japan Shop in Tokyo (6-9 March 2012), one of the biggest sign and graphics shows in Japan, where compliments were made regarding the quality of the SUV ink and the strong scratch resistance properties. On the Mimaki stand at Japan Shop, it demonstrated scrubbing the print surface of a tarpaulin printed by the JV400-160SUV, with a scrubbing brush. Many visitors were astonished by the strong adhesion of the SUV ink.?
