Midcomp showcased a range of print and finishing solutions geared to short and medium run packaging applications and prototyping at Propak Cape 2014 (21-23 October, Cape Town International Conference Centre). The technologies exhibited included the HP Scitex FB700 flatbed printed, HP Latex 360 printer and a Zünd G3 L-2500 digital cutter.
The HP FB700 flatbed increases application versatility by printing on a wide range of rigid and flexible media, including corrugated board and plastic sheeting with excellent ink adhesion. This 2.5m-wide printer is capable of speeds up to 80sqm/hr, enabling packaging convertors to produce medium runs with ease ans delivers output-enriching matte/gloss finishes. Optional white ink increases versatility.
The HP Latex 360 Printer produces indoor and outdoor prints on a variety of traditional signage/display substrates. The prints come out of the printer completely dry and ready to finish or deliver. Scratch resistance is comparable to hard-solvent inks and outdoor prints last up to five years laminated and three years unlaminated. With HP Latex Inks, you can obtain durability and versatility across all common media types, together with high-quality, odorless prints, low maintenance, and health advantages8—even over eco-solvent inks.
The modular design of Zünd cutting systems and their components allows for tailoring configurations to meet very specific production and automation needs. Every machine is designed for 24/7 operation and capable of processing the widest range of materials up to a thickness of 100 mm/4“. The Zünd G3 L-2500 is a heavy-duty, multifunctional machine focused on productivity. The machine excels in user-friendly operation, ergonomics, and reduced energy consumption. From simple trimming, kiss-cutting to liner, routing, creasing, or complex contour-cutting, the cutter performs the tasks with precision and speed. It is easily accessible from all four sides, while the sleek, integrated workstation also provides secure storage space for cutting modules and tools.
