Midcomp has announced plans to establish a new head office, which will officially be opened in May 2018.
Marketing director Sean Greer said, ‘The business, which was started by founders Rob Makinson and Andrew Pine some 26 years ago, has grown to a company of 65 people, spread across four buildings in Gauteng, as well as our Durban and Cape Town branches.
‘Because we outgrew our offices, it has become a massive logistical challenge for everyone, with a warehouse in one place, an innovation hub in another and our main office somewhere else, not to mention the Pretoria office. So we decided to establish a custom-built facility, roughly 1800sqm, in Fern Towers on Hylauma Street in Ferndale, Randburg.
The massive building is geared to accommodate growth over the next five years and will include a state-of-the-art demo facility which also serves as a backup facility to loyal customers, ensuring that they still deliver their jobs even when things go wrong. The company’s warehouse has also grown significantly, meaning that it will be able to hold a larger variety of ink, media and spare parts, ensuring maximum customer uptime. There is also a vast improvement in the engineering departments’ workshop space, allowing Midcomp to accommodate as well as refurbish and service bigger machines.
‘The building has been designed with our stakeholders in mind like our staff, customers and suppliers. We believe this building will live up to our promise, ‘catalyst for growth’, to all our stakeholders. Happy people are more productive, and with everyone under the same roof we are going to increase efficiency,’ added Greer.
