Midcomp Clients HP Latex Solutions Speed Up Production

South African full-service print provider Centrepiece Printing Solutions (CPS) currently has three HP Latex printers in place at its specialist facility, namely two HP Latex 700 printers and an HP Latex 335 machine – all of which were purchased from approved HP distributor Midcomp. The two HP Latex 700 machines are the most recent addition to CPS’ printing arsenal and were installed in March 2024.

CPS has opened up about the impact HP Latex printing technology has had on its business, revealing its HP machines have helped the company to speed up production and take on more work as a result.

Based in Bloemfontein, CPS has been delivering commercial offset, digital and large format printing services to the South African market since 1999. Offering everything from business cards to banners, CPS works with clients across all manner of markets.

Such a diversified service offering means it is crucial for CPS to work with the highest quality printing equipment. For this reason, CPS has elected to use HP Latex technology, which not only delivers stunning output on each job but, thanks to its use of water-based inks, offers an additional sustainable incentive to users.

Jannie Myburgh, Owner of CPS, explained why working with the three machines offers several advantages to the company. ‘We selected these three machines because of their production quality, speed and quick substrate drying time,’ said Myburgh. ‘We mainly use the HP Latex printers to produce poster papers, artist canvases, PVC banners and vinyl, with demand for these services having increased in recent years.’

Myburgh said while the quality of output and sustainable attributes of the HP Latex printers are hugely important to CPS, he said the stand-out benefit of these machines has been their speed. The HP Latex 700 has a top speed of 105sqm/h in one-pass mode, while the HP Latex 335 can hit speeds of up to 50sqm/h.

‘Since we began working with the HP Latex printers, our production speed has certainly increased,’ he said. ‘The sheer speed of the machines is the main reason why we decided to invest and add them to our production line-up.

‘Of course, with the ability to operate at these speeds, we can turn around printed work at a faster rate. As such, we have been able to take on more work and add more customers to our business.’

While HP Latex forms a key part of production at CPS, the company also runs two HP PageWide XL 8000 machines, installed in 2019 and 2022. Given its strong preference towards HP printing technology, Myburgh said that the business may consider adding more machines to its line-up to support growth plans moving forward.

‘Hopefully as our business continues to grow, we will be able to invest in more HP Latex technology in the near future,’ Myburgh said.
