Metamark’s MetaWrap MD-X 50 micron Cylinder Cast digital wrapping media, as well as MetaGuard X 50 micron Cylinder Cast soft PVC Overlaminate, were used in a vehicle wrapping project.
Like any other trade calling on sites to provision a sevice, any self-respecting sweep needs a van. In the case of Johnny The Sweep, he came to his local signmaker, Chillipepper Signs, with a very well developed design presenting his business. The Chillipepper Signs team set to work transposing it elegantly to the complex surfaces of the vehicle.
The livery demonstrates again that, with modern hardware, versatile materials and a very accomplished sign-designer aboard, there is no need to confine graphics to the panel boundaries that would at one time have promoted a business in name alone and maybe added a phone number. Instead, Johnny The Sweep’s business ID uses the van like the canvas it is.
The text elements are large and very crisp, presenting a clear contrast with both the panel work of the van and the pictorial element depicting, in silhouette, a sweep, complete with top-hat and brush. The details are on the door. The whole design sits so comfortably on the van and leaves the observer in no doubt whose business it promotes.
Covering the van as it does, the material elected for the job had to be conformable and work well with ink. The Chillipepper team used MetaWrap MD-X for the job and laminated it with a protective layer of MG-X.
Chillipepper Signs’ work for Johnny The Sweep makes another very potent point: you do not need a fleet of fifty vehicles to justify commissioning a head-turning vehicle livery. All you need is one, and the services of a very capable sign company.
