Ocean Blue has provided graphics to the Malvern Show Ground for all kinds of applications and reasons and, before the pandemic struck, the company provided a gable-end print of very impressive proportions for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) to brand its marquee at an event. The job was a challenge; scale alone saw to that, but the real work started when the time came to remove the temporary branding and get the marquee back to its owners. Unfortunately, for the crew at Ocean Blue, the adhesive holding the film had other ideas about its being removed. It stayed stuck and it took three days to clean it all off.
Time passed and the show is now back in the swing of things now the pandemic has receded. The RHS again approached Blue Ocean wanting another gable-end mural on the same marquee. The design would be different but the clean up operation was still a vivid and not very pleasant memory. Not wanting to go to war with acres of sticky glue residue, Ocean Blue Graphics’ Blake Hobbs picked up the phone to Metamark.
The team at Ocean Blue Graphics got its design for the job approved and the considerable job of printing the job began. Ocean Blue’s Epson SureColour chewed through the massive workload and didn’t miss a beat. The results are a testimony to the printer’s quality and to Ocean Blue’s expertise. There’s nothing revolutionary to report in terms of application. It was done very carefully, methodically and with great precision.
Once assembled, the RHS got a powerful branding statement that could be seen from the next county if line-of-sight allowed. It’s a real eye-popper and its monster proportions really impress. It did its job and, after the week allotted for it to be displayed, time came to remove it. Removal proved to be a marked contrast with the previous experience. It was clean and simple with none of the struggles experienced before.
