Metamark’s MD5 High Performance Calendered Digital Vinyl, combined with MetaGuard 700 Premium Grade PVC Overlaminate (matched to MD5), were used in another vehicle wrapping project.
Laymak is based in South Wales and among the services it extends to its customers is road-sweeper hire. Like most other vehicles of their type, Laymak’s wore a basic brand livery involving the company’s logo but little that really turned heads.
Elite Signs and Graphics, based in Bridgend, was consulted and asked to propose something to make these hardworking vehicles more noticeable, more memorable and more effective at promoting their availability. Having worked with Laymak before, the Elite team hit the ground running and came up with a really audacious design that got the thumbs up without revision.
Elite’s design depicts a dragon, Welsh of course, teeth bared and literally clawing its way out of the sweeper’s waste containment tank. The metal comprising the tank is ripped to shreds where the muscular dragon has rammed its head through and torn it like tinfoil where the claws are shown penetrating. There’s a lot of detail in the cartoon-like rendering and it has a feeling of real depth and dimension thanks to the subtle shadow detailing.
The sides of the vehicle are comprised of flat and gently curved sections and so the Elite team reached for Metamark MD5 laminated with MG-700 for its amazing print. What Laymak now has represents a real transformation thanks to Elite Signs and Graphics. It’s more than just a new livery. It’s a new type of livery whose style is not typical for vehicles of this type. It turns something quite anonymous into a real event and a vehicle that’ll be remembered.
