Direct To Film (DTF) printing has taken off in a very big way, largely due to its benefits, which include wash durability and stretchability, print-on-demand capabilities and ease of use.
Even when stretched, the print does not crack. The wash durability on DTF prints is also excellent, with about 60 plus washes before you will notice any fading or washing out on DTF transfers.
DTF has advantages when it comes to print-on-demand as it’s not labour intensive. The machine does most of the work for you. The printer prints, and all you have to do is remove the media from the printer, cut it up, place it on your garment, put it into a heat press and you’ve got a completed print.
Anyone that can operate a computer can operate a machine. You can operate from your house or your garage as there are, for example, 220 volt systems available.
According to Mimaki Europe, ‘DTF technology opens up opportunities for digital print service providers (PSPs) to expand their product offerings in the textile industry, their network of potential customers, and thanks to the versatility of the process, expand the wide range of fabrics they can print on.’
‘Compared with the traditional methods of screen printing, the plate creation required for screen printing is far too time-consuming. Not only this, but the process does not meet DTF’s ability to produce vivid colours and quality details such as shapes, lettering, and motifs often sought after in the promotional and merchandising space for bespoke textiles.’
Visitors at the Sign Africa Expo will have the opportunity to see the latest DTF technologies live and in action and chat with experts about the best solution for their unique business needs. Other solutions on display will include wide format, vehicle wrapping, textile printing, laser cutting and engraving, displays, garment printing, screen and pad printing, and other cutting edge technology.
Please register online for free attendance to the Sign Africa Expo, taking place 11-13 September at Gallagher Convention Centre from 9am-5pm. The event is sponsored by Roland and Stixo. Look out for news articles from the exhibitors showcasing products and solutions at the event.
