The Sign Africa Zambia Expo held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre created a number of business opportunities for both visitors and exhibitors alike.
One of many success stories at the expo was the sale of a Mimaki CJV 150-130 by Graphix Supply World to Maritime Media Limited.
A printing agent of the Lusaka City Council in putting up directional signs and light pole adverts, Maritime Media Limited specialise in advertising, proofreading books, printing, billboards, corporate branding, stationery supply, media consultancy, office equipment and furniture.
Until recently, the company always outsourced wide format printers for banners and directional signs, to name a few. MD Evans Nachilobe had been investigating purchasing his own wide format printer with the aim of having a one stop-shop. Nachilobe said that a number of the CJV 150-130’s features caught his attention, including the print quality, the cutting feature and the inking system.
Nachilobe mentioned that aside from the purchase, the expo allowed him to create contacts and identify sources of products he needs. ’I am very excited to own a printer like this,’ he said.
Graphix Supply World’s Darryl Braithwaite described the Mimaki CJV150 as a market leader in print and cut in one technology. ‘The Mimaki CJV 150 has incorporated a new list of functions such as a nozzle check unit, which identifies clogged nozzles, and then automatically cleans the blocked nozzles. If the clogging is not resolved, then the nozzle recovery system automatically selects another nozzle to compensate for the blocked nozzle. All of this, coupled with the Mimaki MBIS (bulk feed system), using genuine Mimaki 2 litre ink pouches, allows for print costs that can not be matched. The Mimaki CJV 150 comes with a take up device as standard, and does not cost anything extra. With a top speed of 56 square metres an hour, it certainly sets the standard in this sphere of the field.’
On describing his experience at the Zambia expo, Braithwaite said he was happy to encounter a group of visitors who were so enthusiastic about having a show like this in their country, ‘The response was unbelievable. The Zambian print and signage market are yearning for new technology, new methods of doing what they are currently doing, and for guidance from people with the relevant know-how.’
