The new system, developed in Sydney, Australia by Pigment.inc, offers the capability to pre-coat a variety of textiles with cotton and polyester being the most common types of fabrics. The coating delivery system uses an atomising nozzle that lays the correct type of pre-treatment solution on the textile without wetting the reverse side.
According to Steve Richardson, Managing Director at Impressions Technologies, ‘The wetting technology we are employing does not change the hand or the structure of the fabric. Additionally, with the quad horizontal heating elements the coated fabric is dried almost immediately.’
Offered in either 188cm (74-inch) or 265cm (104-inch) sizes, the pre-treatment units were developed to be used as a fixation station as well for pre-coating. ‘This is the first combination pre-coater and fixation available in the digital textile market,’ said Dan Barefoot, President of Graphics One.
