Fujifilm Sells Acuity LED 1600 II To Lusaka-Based Associated Printers

Fujifilm South Africa has sold an Acuity LED 1600 II to Lusaka-based Associated Printers.

The company was introduced to the Fujifilm Acuity LED 1600 at the Sign Africa Cape Town Expo in 2016. With eight ink channels, including white and clear UV-LED inks, this machine ticked all the boxes. The LED-UV system cure is in a wavelength range that is not ozone depleting, and the curing process requires less energy, better known as ‘green printing technology’ compared to solvent based ink systems.

Associated Printers managing director Peter Frost said, ‘We strive to be a one-stop print shop for our clients, offering a wide range of quality products and services based on our ‘quality, service and integrity’ credo. We wanted to find a large format printer solution that combined flatbed and roll-to-roll, printing on various substrates with high quality print and more ink options, but with affordable pricing for our relatively small market.’

‘The inclusion of the value-added white and clear inks have created a large potential for many high quality print product options which our market has not seen before, let alone the the wide range of substrates it can print on. We are also excited about the option to print directly onto flat sheets of various materials, using the flatbed option, which not only adds a competitive edge but allows one to print on totally new substrates, such as glass and wood,’ added Frost.

‘This printer will add a new and unique dimension to our business. Fujifilm is a valuable partner and a worldwide leader, this by itself creates a secure climate of trust that we continuously seek,’ he said.

Fujfilm’s sales team have worked with Frost for more than a year to ensure that he has purchased the correct printer that will allow his company to expand their service portfolio. ‘This Acuity LED 1600 II is the first installation into Zambia and we are excited to see how Associated Printers, together with the support from Fujifilm, will bring high value innovative applications to the Zambian market by using the printer’s unique features,’ said Fujifilm South Africa medical and graphics manager Tomo Hemmi. ‘The Acuity LED 1600 II’s strength is its flexibility and quick changeover from rolls to rigid materials, comparable with top modern flatbed printers and a favourable price/performance ratio.’
