Expand A Sign Using Recycled PET Bottle Fabric To Produce Face Masks

2356

Expand a Sign developed a fabric that uses 40% recycled PET bottles – this equates to approximately 15 PET bottles per every 4sqm. This recycled fabric is used in the production of all its reusable face masks.

According to Expand a Sign, ‘Before Covid-19, we were at war with a very visible threat in the form of plastic. Something that hasn’t just disappeared because of this virus but has been somewhat pushed aside while the world deals with one pandemic at a time. The reality is, this problem won’t go away just because we aren’t paying it any attention and once the Covid dust settles, the plastic issue will become something that world will need to address.’

The company felt that something needed to be done now to protect our environment by recycling PET bottles. Expand a Sign only uses 100% South African PET waste, which in turn creates job opportunities. The company’s partners recycle 100 tons per day.
