Esko Introducing Flip-Side Camera

In addition to Automation Engine QuickStart for Sign and WebCenter QuickStart for Corrugated converters, Esko introduced a brand-new Flip-Side Camera for Kongsberg cutting tables equipped with a Feeder and Stacker.

This unique solution saves the 20 to 30 minutes of manual set-up time typically required to ensure accurate cutting of corrugated board for in-store displays as well as other applications. When using the Kongsberg Feeder and Stacker, the camera scans the underside of the sheet to locate registration marks, barcodes containing set-up instructions, and the corner of the sheet. It is then able to cut and crease accurately by calculating where the registration marks are in reference to the corner, with limited or no operator intervention.

During FESPA, Esko presented a wide range of public demonstrations and theatre presentations that educated visitors on how to handle design requests in minutes, to streamline signage production and to design displays faster.

Geert De Proost, Esko’s director solutions marketing, said, ‘We continue to be focused on supporting the sign and display and corrugated sectors with integrated hardware and software solutions that address business requirements. Automation Engine QuickStart for Sign and WebCenter QuickStart for Corrugated converters and the new Flip Side Camera for Kongsberg cutting tables are examples of that strategy at work. Esko’s QuickStart solutions offer companies out-of-the-box, proven and expert workflows for sign and wide format production, as well as the digital workflows required to speed up the time to market for corrugated products.’

At FESPA, in addition to Esko QuickStart and other productivity enhancers, a Kongsberg C64 cutting table equipped with a Feeder and Stacker and a Flip-Side Camera were on display. The Kongsberg C64 is a multifunctional, super wide digital cutting table for signage and display applications. Russell Weller, product manager said, ‘The Kongsberg C, combined with the Feeder and Stacker, delivers the ultimate 24/7 performance and is designed to keep up with the faster, wider digital printers of today.

‘Visitors were amazed at how much this innovation can improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), a key to ensuring rapid ROI for equipment investments.’

Also on display was a Kongsberg X20 entry-level cutting table together with a wide range of specialty tools. Offering the ultimate in versatility, these tools deliver speed, power and flexibility to handle a wide variety of materials, such as corrugated, folding carton, solid board, foam, coating blankets, wood and a long list of plastics.

Upcoming FESPA events include FESPA Africa, the region’s largest, focused exhibition for wide format digital printing, screen printing, garment decoration and textile printing, which is co-located with Sign Africa and Africa Print, the region’s leading events for the signage industry. The event is taking place from 12-14 September 2018 at Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg.
