Epson’s new range of SureColor SC-S series printers so far comprises the SC-S80610, SC-S60610 and SC-S40610, offering four-ten colours (including white and metallic) and up to 95sqm/hr in a single-pass.
The top of the range SureColor SC-S80610 replaces the SC-S70610 and will be available to buy from March. It features dual PrecisionCore TFP printheads and nine/ten colours – CMYKLcLmLk plus red and orange, but it can be configured to use white or metallic silver. The printer delivers print speeds up to 95sqm/hr in single-pass banner mode, and up to 12.5sqm/hr in eight-pass film mode.
The SureColor SC-S60610 also has dual PrecisionCore TFP printheads (CMYK x 2). Quoted speeds for vinyl output are at 29sqm/hr, banner 52sqm/hr, and again up to 95sqm/hr for single-pass applications.
The SureColor C-S40610 uses a single PrecisionCore printhead and delivers up to 58sqm/hr. Both of the latter are available immediately.
Set-up is said to be quick and easy, with a large clear panel enabling a view of the printing area, while internal LED lights allow for easy inspection at the point of printing.
A new Precision Media Feeding System enables motorised roll-to-roll media handling with auto-tension control (AD-ATC). Anti-static, wide-diameter pressure rollers help optimise grip and feed accuracy, while consistent media feed is promised for unattended roll-to-roll printing up to roll weights of 45kg. Automatic media alignment and set-up allows fast switching between media types.
Automatic printhead cleaning, including a newly-developed fabric printhead wiper system, will virtually eliminate printhead maintenance said Epson.
The SureColor SC-S range uses Epson’s new formulation quick drying and low odour UltraChrome GS3 inkset. Epson said it expects PSPs to see a significantly lower ink consumption as a result of the improved chemistry in the GS3 inkset.
The printers come with a two-year warranty as standard though extended warranty options are also available. Users can also take advantage of the Epson SureColor Academy for training, support and access to regularly-updated media profiles.
In some regions, the SureColor SC-S printers are supplied with an Onyx Rip as standard, but are compatible with a wide range of other Rips.
