Color-Logic released a new set of specialised palettes, enabling graphic designers to instantly apply seamless patterns to their designs. Pattern-FX, when combined with the Color-Logic system, may be used for metallic ink printing or to generate complex white ink masks for printing on metallic substrates.
In addition to primary metallic effects, each pattern may be used as an effect pattern for embossing or coatings.
Discussing the new product, Color-Logic Chief Technical Officer Richard Ainge said: ‘Patterns are currently very popular and are widely used for both background and packaging designs. The Color-Logic predesigned palettes open up new revenue opportunities, enabling graphic designers to prepare flawless metallic patterns within Adobe Illustrator with just a single mouse click.
‘Our first release of 20 patterns provides designers with six versions each of four metallic special effects plus a varnish and an emboss setting, for a total of 120 effects. Pattern-FX reduces to just a few seconds what would require most designers several hours to create manually.’
As the patterns are seamless, they are scalable and can be used for all types of printing and packaging applications, including wide format printing. Each pattern can be further controlled by applying one of the 250 metallic colours already available in the Color-Logic system, or may be used in combination to create multiple effects, such as a metallic embossed and varnished element, to a design.
Beyond the 20 different patterns included in the initial release, additional volumes are scheduled for release later in the year. Pattern-FX enables designers to dazzle their corporate or brand clients with metallics at a new level.
