Canon will show its Colorado 1630 and Arizona 135 GT printers for the first time at a live international event. The new Colorado 1630 will demonstrate how sign makers, commercial printers and print service providers can access all the proven advantages of UVgel technology at a smart investment level.
The modular architecture of the Colorado 1630 helps users to configure the printer to their unique business needs by adding options such as FLXfinish – an LED curing technique that adds flexibility for a matte or gloss finish to each print – a second media roll and double-sided printing, without the need for a service visit.
The ‘UVgel Wallpaper Factory’ production set-up, featuring the Colorado 1650 and Fotoba motorised Jumbo Roll Loader JRL 170 in combination with the Cutter XLD 170WP and Rewinder REW 162, will showcase a complete end-to-end solution for new customers and existing Colorado 1650 users. The Colorado Wallpaper Factory is designed for maximum throughput and with the set-up, customers have a fully automated solution for the production of high quality customised wallpaper, one of the fastest growing industry sectors. Recognising the importance of this market segment, Canon has joined the Global Wallcoverings Association (IGI), which is credited as a valuable, comprehensive and authoritative information source for the wallcovering industry.
Showcasing a real ‘UVgel Universal Factory’, a second Colorado 1650 will be connected to a Fotoba Jumbo Roll Rewinder and a Jumbo Roll Loader on the stand, demonstrating how customers can print long-run applications, with no need for an operator, enabling 24/7 production, 365 days a year – speeding up production and reducing order-to-delivery timelines. The production can also be monitored remotely via a Remote Control App on the operator’s smartphone.
Launched in June this year, the Arizona 135 GT flatbed printer will be another highlight of the stand. For printers looking to expand into the large format graphics industry or for those looking to diversify into new applications, the Arizona 135 GT opens up a host of new opportunities. The Arizona 135 GT, the only printer in its segment with a field-upgradable Roll Media Option (RMO) to print on flexible media, will, alongside Arizona Xpert software, produce tactile prints on an extensive range of both rigid and flexible media.
The Arizona 2380 XTF will highlight how customers can improve operational efficiencies and fuel growth opportunities through new applications. Built around Arizona FLOW technology, users can increase productivity by more than 20% by minimising the need for masking and taping and work with more challenging media, such as cardboard, wood and glass. The flatbed printer will also print a range of textured applications using the Touchstone software, which helps users to create high value print products, including interior décor applications, braille, fine-art reproduction and retail POS displays.
ProCare, the established after-sales services model for the Colorado printers, is now also available for the Arizona flatbed printer series, creating a unique and unified service approach beneficial for end customers and sales partners. ProCare offers maximised uptime, full cost transparency, high return on investment and, on average, has received a customer satisfaction rating of 95%.
Canon will for the first time also be showing the capabilities of its new UV LED ink set on the Arizona 135 GT. The new IJC358 ink set has superior adhesive properties, making it ideal for industrial applications that involve printing on more complex materials, such as plastics. The higher flexibility of the IJC358 ink also means that it is more likely to remain adhered to the media both during the finishing processes and during the application of the finished media to a surface, such as a wall or glass.
Available in the same 800 millilitre, two-litre and three-litre pouches as Canon’s IJC357 ink set, IJC358 incorporates CMYK, light cyan, light magenta and white. Whereas the IJC357 inks produce a glossier result, the IJC358 inks produce a more matte finish, again of greater potential appeal to those producing industrial applications. And from an environmental perspective, also being GREENGUARD Gold certified, IJC358 offers the same environmental guarantee as the IJC357 ink set.
The printers on the stand will be supported by ONYX 21 RIP and OneVision workflow automation software. An end-to-end automated workflow will also be demonstrated, featuring the Colorado and Arizona printers, OneVision software and a Zünd S3 digital cutter, which will be displayed on the neighbouring OneVision stand. These solutions will be showcased at FESPA, taking place from 12-15 October in Amsterdam.
