Maizey Plastics and Avery Dennison held a joint event to launch Avery Dennison’s Ultimate Wrapping Film™ on 13 March. The event took place at the Red Star Raceway in Delmas and attendees were given the chance to take a lap in a Lamborghini Super Trofeo race car.
Attendees gathered on the racetrack’s grandstand to witness the unveiling of the Ultimate Wrapping Film™. Lindy van Moerkerken, Business Manager Graphics Solutions at Avery Dennison for Sub-Saharan Africa, gave the go-ahead to remove the cover off of the car, which was wrapped in Gloss Fantasy Sparkling Grey and Gloss Metallic Black Rose. Rikki Maizey, Executive Chairman at Maizey Plastics, said, ‘The target market for this film is the everyday person who wants to pimp his ride.’
Avery Dennison Ultimate Wrapping Film™ is a calendered PVC film designed for vehicle and object wraps. It offers durability, conformability and easy application for both full and partial wraps. It is 130 microns thick with a removable, easy apply acrylic adhesive and is available in high gloss, matt or satin finishes. It has good conformability and adhesive with air egress channels for fast and easy removal of entrapped bubbles. It also features UV, temperature and humidity resistance and its removable adhesive lasts for up to two years.
Sarel Kruger, Technical Marketing Manager at Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions, gave an in-depth look at the features of the new film. Kruger said that the film is calendered and not cast vinyl, so it is a thicker film. The vinyl is for shorter term applications with an estimated two years of use. The vertical warranty of the wrap is one year, while the horizontal is six months. Several benefits that were highlighted include the ultra-smooth PET embossed liner for better stability and removability, the cap sheet for increased protection and the affordability of the product.
Kruger concluded by mentioning the product’s matt, satin, gloss and fantasy ranges that are available, as well as some of the colour highlights, including Gloss Fantasy Pink, Snowy Rose, Metallic Pearl White and Deep Black.
A competition was held during the event. By selecting their five favourite colours in the new range from a display board, attendees could stand a chance to win a roll of Avery Dennison’s Ultimate Wrapping Film™.
