Canon South Africa invited those in the architectural industry to attend their Architects’ Day, which featured engaging sessions and exclusive showcases held at the company’s Customer Experience Centre.
Hosted by Pieter Pieters, Business Development Manager for Production Printers and Large Format in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands, the event sought to unveil the latest cutting-edge features and functionalities designed to future-proof a business, ensuring its continued success.
Pieters touched on several insights, such as the reduced printing cost to an architectural firm or company that produces their own prints in-house (as apposed to outsourcing the job at a mark-up). Pieters also mentioned the Canon printing range’s versatile ability to produce anything from technical Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CAD) prints to five colour photographic image quality posters.
Also highlighted was the overall industry trend of the drive towards sustainable, eco-conscience products and practices, and the evolving state of the printing industry that has seen a rise in the use of smaller machines designed for variable, more personalised printing.
The Equipment Highlighted And Displayed Included:
Canon imagePROGRAF TM-300
The mid-range range, 91,4cm (36 inch), five colour, large format printer has Canon Bubblejet on-demand, 6 colours, integrated type print technology and a print resolution of 2400 x 1200dpi. ‘Think of it as the typical A0 printer that you’ll find in an engineering or architectural environment. It comfortably runs 100 to 1000 A1’s a month, but more importantly, it’s at a very cost effective price point with regards to total cost of ownership,’ said Pieters.
Canon imagePROGRAF TX-2100
The imagePROGRAF TX-2100 is a 61cm (24 inch), five colour, large format printer. It has a print speed of 2.8ppm (A1) and a maximum print resolution of 1200dpi. It is a higher volume device which can be fitted with bulk ink tanks and can house larger roles of paper, which in turn drives the cost of price per print down. ‘This also means higher volume printing can be reached per month,’ explained Pieters.
Canon imagePROGRAF TZ-30000
The imagePROGRAF TZ-30000 is a five colour, large format printer more suited for ‘the bigger corporate environment of engineers and architects’, added Pieters. It has a print speed of up to 4ppm (A1), a 700/330 ml ink tank and can produce 100 A0 stacked print outs. It is designed for high speed, high volume production printing, fast-tracking CAD and poster production. ‘When looking at about four and a half A1’s per minute, it’s all about printing fast, it’s all about printing projects, and it’s all about printing as quick, but as cheap, as possible,’ concluded Pieters.
