Darryl Braithwaite from Midcomp gave a full presentation on the numerous benefits of the HP S500 Stitch dye sublimation printer at the recent Graphics, Print and Sign expo. The machine not only prints paper, but direct-to-textile. Other machines can usually do one or the other, whereas this machine can do both.
The printer comes in different sizes and speeds depending on the user’s requirements, and is renowned for it ability to print designs onto sports apparel, namely rugby, football or cycling jerseys, and other apparel of an athletic nature, as well as gazebos and banners.
The printer enables predictable dye sublimation colour and less media waste for production environments. With symmetrical 2 x CMYK printhead configuration and Optical Media Advance Sensor, this printer allows for saturated and reliable one pass mode for true top speed.
Midcomp have installed S500 machines for many notable players in the market and the overall feedback is that the machine is easy to use and has a low paper cost. Braithwaite also said that interested clients should book a demonstration at the iHub, the company’s demonstration centre in Gauteng, and bring their own materials to see what the machine can produce. For those who live outside of Gauteng, live online demonstrations can also be arranged.
The machine includes Midcomp’s Pay Per Use system, through which consumables such as inks, print heads and cartridges, as well as technical call-outs, are covered by paying a certain fee for every square metre printed. This allows for users to calculate overall costs before printing.
