Nashakele Specialist Imports (NSI) has announced that its new 3D LED Resin Letter Training course will be held from 10-11 June at its Midrand premises. This follows the very successful training course held from 12-13 May.
The course saw delegates learn how to mix and pour resin for 3D channel letter facings, fit LED lighting, how to work with EZ Shaper Perspex and acrylic bending tools as well as how to work with Flexitrim. Representatives were welcomed from as far afield as Botswana and Zambia and all agreed that the training had been very informative and that they had learnt a great deal.
Making letter facings with resin is a rare and highly sought after skill. Worldwide, there are comparatively few artisans with the skill to work with resin. The training course gives signage companies the opportunity to be the first among African companies to offer this finishing technique to their clients. Currently, signage manufacturing companies in Africa who do offer resin letters to their clients import from abroad, causing delivery delays and a lack of control over the production process. Headaches associated with importing these products often result in local signage manufacturers simply not offering resin letters.
LED channel letters finished with epoxy resin do not require Perspex or acrylic facings and make for an unusual, impactful, neat and striking result. The domed, borderless effect that is achieved with an epoxy resin never fails to impress. The end product is durable and looks neat, professional and attractive 24 hours a day, whether it’s light or dark.
Due to the scarcity of skills associated with the manufacturing of resin LED channel letters, signage companies that can do this work are in a position to charge a lot more for signage that’s made in this way. This is certainly the trend with resin signage manufacturing abroad and the South African market is likely to follow suit. Resin sign manufacture requires precision and attention to detail. There is an exact formula or recipe that needs to be followed for optimal results. However, the right product and formula is not necessarily a guarantee of success. A certain amount of talent, skill, attention to detail, creativity and practice needs to be combined to make a good resin artisan.
The detail orientated nature of this training requires that each attendee receive personal attention and supervision in the mixing and execution of the final product.
Signage manufacturers who would like to be added to the mailing list to be kept informed of future course dates, please send a mail to info@nashakele.co.za to let NSI know.
