Cape Town based company BrandMix has acquired an HP Scitex FB700 Flatbed printer from Midcomp to further expand their already impressive equipment offering.
‘Initially we bought the machine for one particular large contract we had to deliver on fairly quickly,’ said Aslam Gierdien, General Manager, BrandMix. ‘Using a flatbed printer provided us with a quicker turn-around time, better quality and also more competitive pricing. Now that we’ve adjusted to its capabilities it has opened up opportunities for a wider scope of applications we can offer clients.
‘The HP Scitex FB700 is a reliable workhorse that is easy to operate, offers great value for money and excellent print quality. BrandMix was founded over twenty-five years ago and strives to be leaders in their field, providing high quality printing services in all media formats and substrates. When asked about any dramatic changes in their business to accommodate the FB700, Gierdien was upbeat and described a seamless adjustment with everyone embracing the new technology. Changes included doubling up on their finishing department to cope with the 50% increase in production throughput and sharpening up on stock control of substrates. The company runs two shifts daily and the FB700 prints on average 12 hours per day with no challenges.
The company has already benefitted from new business with the FB700. The first major flatbed project was event signage for the Argus Cycle Tour which included over a 1000 correx boards in different sizes, over 60m of banners and 1500 decals. The total project included numerous other branded signs was completed in 18 working days.
