3A Composites GmbH presented their new product LUMEX® for the first time at this year’s FESPA London Expo, which took place from 25-29 June.
LUMEX® is the new trademark for the highly transparent PET polyester sheets that have been added to the 3A Composites product range after the acquisition of the Irish company FOAMALITE Ltd. Two product types are available: LUMEX® A (amorphous PET), available in 0.8 – 6mm thickness, for flat applications and ‘simple’ thermoforming and LUMEX® G (modified PET with Glycol), in 0.8 – 10mm thickness, for complex thermoforming and solvent bonding.
Both products show extremely good printability with UV inks. In addition, they have a B1 fire classification as well as an FDA approval. They are extremely impact-resistant, show excellent outdoor durability and are easy and fast to transform and print.
The company also exhibited the newly added FOAMALITE® PVC product range. FOAMALITE® premium is suited for 3-dimensional or structural applications due to its high dimensional stability. The weather resistance and fire classification difficult-to-ignite according to EN 13501-1 make FOAMALITE® premium a universal sheet for all exterior or interior display applications.
FOAMALITE® x-press is also difficult-to-ignite and offers optimal printing results with impeccable ink adhesion due to its white, smooth and even surface.
The company also present a talented newcomer to the KAPA® family: KAPA®tech with PUR-foam core and coated aluminium skins is the first KAPA® product that is suitable for both exterior and interior use. Areas of application include visual communication or display, insulation and constructive design. KAPA®tech is also flame-retardant.
DIBOND® was also debuted during FESPA. The new surface to the DIBOND® product family is called DIBOND®structure and gets its characteristic appearance due to a special lacquer system that creates a distinct haptic pattern and additionally features high durability.
An additional newcomer that was also shown is SMART-X® in 19mm thickness. The 100% recyclable polystyrene sheet is now available in thicknesses of 5, 10 and 19mm.
